Seattle Presbytery Celebrates 150th Anniversary
Seattle Presbytery Celebrates 150th Anniversary

"The bounds of the presbytery were fixed as to embrace the entire Territory of Washington".

The oldest congregation in our current presbytery is the White River Presbyterian Church which organized in July 1867 and yet did not complete its first building until 1889.  Seattle First PC organized in 1869.

On October 14, 1908 we became the Presbytery of Seattle with 28 churches and 6,185 communicants in four counties.

Our presbytery history, The Presbytery of Seattle 1858-2005, can be ordered from Barnes and Noble and the University Bookstore.  All proceeds go a presbytery fund for future history projects.

[Our thanks to Bob Welsh for writing the history and providing us with this information.]
