Last week's storm and resulting flooding have left thousands in our area in need of assistance. Federal, state and church agencies are working to provide immediate and long term assistance for those who have lost their homes and possessions.

Janelle & Mike McCarty, PC(USA) Missionaries to Ethiopia, Available to Speak in Churches in February, 2008 Friday, December 07, 2007 (10 reads)
Janelle and Mike McCarty, who are from Renton, have been our missionary teachers and administrators in Ethiopia for the past two years at the Bethel Evangelical Secondary School, Gidada Bible Institute, and the elementary school. They will complete their tour of duty in February and will be home then. They would like very much to tell their story and that of the Ethiopian Education Fund which is set up to support those three schools.

White River Presbyterian Church Receives Congregational Transformation Grant Wednesday, December 05, 2007 (145 reads)
White River Presbyterian Church of Auburn, Washington, founded in 1867, is the oldest congregation is the Presbytery of Seattle. After nine difficult years stretching from 1996 to 2005, WRPC found themselves with declining membership in a changing neighborhood and a mission statement they still believed. The mission of White River Presbyterian Church is to disciple all people through commitment to prayer, worship, study, care, and outreach. Despite the decline, per-member pledging increased in from 2004-2006, so there were still signs of life and hope.

Three candidates ready to go but need funding by Dec. 15

LOUISVILLE — Three fully-trained Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission workers are ready to depart for their assignments but lack the funding to go.
General Assembly Council Executive Director has sent an appeal to the church seeking the $212,000 that is needed to deploy Denise England to Egypt, Carol Dolezal-Ng to Lebanon and Kathy Reeves to Switzerland.
All three have been validated for service through the Mission Initiative: Joining Hearts & Hands, a five-year, $40 million campaign to raise funds for new overseas missionaries and for church development in this country, particularly new racial ethnic and immigrant congregations.

As Christians we believe learning how to wait and what to wait for are important lessons in our spiritual journey. We Christians realize we have to wait for everything in this life that is really worth waiting for. We wait to be born. We wait for love to touch us. We wait for life to grow. We wait for God's fullness to come.

WJK to Launch New Study Bible & Groundbreaking New Lectionary Commentary Series Tuesday, December 04, 2007 (0 reads)
 Westminster John Knox Press has announced plans to publish two innovative new products in 2008 for preachers, teachers, and laypeople in the ecumenical Christian church. The Discipleship Study Bible (June 2008) will be the first new NRSV study Bible in five years, and a new twelve-volume lectionary commentary series coedited by David Bartlett and Barbara Brown Taylor, Feasting on the Word (July 2008), will offer a helpful and unique perspective to preachers. Cokesbury is handling the subscriptions and retail orders through its stores, catalogs, and web site.
