Moderator's Musings for September 2007
Moderator's Musings for September 2007

Earlier this year, your Presbytery Council appointed a task force to consider an approach to resolving issues that would be consistent with the gospel and with Presbyterian polity.  Because the level of tension in Seattle Presbytery is relatively low, this task force has had time to reflect very thoughtfully about these issues.  Other Presbyteries, caught up in the urgency of disputes among their own churches, have crafted documents which may not address issues of disagreement or property dispute with the depth and thoughtfulness required.

I believe Seattle Presbytery is taking the long view.  The Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force, led by our Presbytery Counsel David Brenner, has been in regular conversation with the Presbytery Council, and will be presenting a resolution regarding Alternative Dispute Resolution in the near future.  We will have ample opportunity to discuss this important issue in the months ahead, and will provide the resolution for your reading in November.

Please continue to pray for Seattle Presbytery, that we might remain unified, and committed to ministry together in the name of Jesus Christ.

See you around the Presbytery!

With God's blessings,
Randy Butler, Moderator
