Responsibilities for the Treasurer include:
1. Present a full and accurate account of all funds and securities annually to the Synod.
2. Provide staff services related to the position at Synod Assembly, Budget Committee meetings, and other General Assembly, synod or presbytery meetings as requested. Travel will be negotiated with the Synod Executive.
3. Serve on the Synod Council Budget Committee as ex-officio with voice but no vote.
4. Serve on the Synod Council as ex-officio with voice but no vote.
5. Work closely with the accounting staff to receive and disburse the funds of the Synod.
6. Ensure that the accounting staff receive proper training in synod policies, systems and operations and perform in accordance with them.
7. Custodian of all non-Mission Development Certificate funds and securities of the Synod.
8. Develop and maintain reports and procedures for use and control in establishing standards and analyzing operations, and for the safeguarding, integrity, privacy and audit ability of all finds and accounts of record.
9. Develop and assist with projects, analysis, and related financial forecasting and reporting which arise throughout the year.
10. Assist the accounting staff in coordinating, reviewing and distributing the finds of the annual certified financial review.
11. Review bills and expense vouchers presented for payment for justification, proper approval and accuracy, when requested by the Comptroller.
12. Sign payroll, expense, interest and miscellaneous checks.
13. Support the accounting staff in payroll/benefits management and IRS and State reporting.
14. Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of all bank statements.
Evaluation: There is an annual review and evaluation of performance in accordance with the personnel policies of the Synod.
Qualifications:
1. An enthusiastic personal relationship with and commitment to Jesus Christ, and a genuine love for the Church, both of which are reflected in lifestyle.
2. Knowledge of and commitment to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), its mission, its form of government and doctrine, in accordance with the Book of Order and Book of Confessions.
3. A college degree in accounting or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Prefer at least three years experience in financial management.
5. This person must be bonded.
